Reflection
Experience: My initial encounter with this class was intimidating. At first, I was genuinely concerned that this module would be my weakness. Since this was my first design module, I honestly thought I wouldn’t be able to catch up. Although, When I was at my lowest, I remember what Mr. Vinod told us in our first class, which was grades don’t matter. There was a time where people may get an A. However, once they achieve, they might forget about what they learn and then affecting the next module. Therefore, we need to concentrate on our evaluation from Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul and try learning from our own mistakes. Apart from that, this module was the only one that keeps encouraging us on updating our blog. This certainly saves me since their strictness helps us to work on our blog daily, thus benefits us to complete it fast at the end of the module.
Observation: I never realized that typography would play such a significant role in the design. In this module, I was amazed by how much we can achieve by solely using text. I was able to produce an expressive, meaningful, and animated design. Before I began this course, judging by the module description, I expected this module would be slightly mundane, and I judged I won’t have fun in this module. Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul prove me wrong! We could create based on our creativity, and occasionally we were likewise challenged to observe our own design. Not only that, I could learn the history and theoretical elements of typography from this module’s lecture which widen my perspectives.
Findings: This module helped me identify that not everyone is perfect. Each of us possesses our own strengths and weaknesses. When we were designing for a project, Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul encouraged us to share our design with other people that did not understand what we are doing. This serves as a new viewpoint and feedback. From this, I was able to find that design is subjective. People have their own preferences, and frequently what we assumed is an outstanding design might be the other way around to others. These Findings really supported me to build my own confidence, as Mr. Vinod said “Don't be awfully bitter when the lecturer scold us and don't ’t be overly delighted when they complimented us” We need to listen to their assessment and gain from our mistakes.
