Exercises
Excercise 1 : Case Study (Week 1-3)
Chosen Packaging (23/08/21)
In the first week we were told to start our first exercise by searching around the house and pick a package we want to analyse and do a research report of them. The report comprises exploration, dissection and observation of our chosen to package. Then, we send the picture to the lecturer for her to give the green light and proceed. Since I loved tea, I had purchased a tea brand called Osulloc back in my trip from Korea. They have an incredible packaging that attracts my attention.
Analysis and Observation (29/08/21)
Moving on, I started my analysis and observation of my packaging. Starting from researching the brand it selves and analysing the part of the packaging from top to bottom. The first thing I did was creating a mind map of what I will be talking about. After that, then I started my google docs and elaborate on each point regarding my Osulloc Packaging of Coral Island. I haven't made my presentation yet and instead focusing on my analysis first. Then, I started a taking picture of the packaging for my visualization evidence of my report.
Presentation (29/08/21)
After I completed my analysis, I transfer all my data analysis and visual photo and design it into a power point form. This way it's aesthetically pleasing for people to see and read my report.

Exercise 2 : Box Making (Week 3-5)
Loose Items (11/09/21)
First, after being briefed on our second exercise, we were told to choose any two loose items we will make packaging of. I looked around my house and choose two of my daily need items. One is a Korean lip tint which has a short round tube and the other is a rectangle-shaped power bank.
Sketches and Measurements (12/09/21)
After choosing my items, I went ahead and measure the items length and wide. Then, I started sketching the style of packaging box I want to make for the objects chosen.
Feedback
Week 1
General feedback:
- When choosing the packaging for your case study, be extra mindful of all the points you need to study.
- Please relate back to the brief given and point out the pro & cons.
Specific feedback:
The lecturer prefers a physical packaging that we had at home. That way we could see and feel the packaging.
Week 2
Specific Feedback:
- Already good, if you want you could elaborate more
-
-Ergonometrics: since my packaging is straightforward I could just talked about how the packaging could fit shelfs
Reflection
Experience
This module was truly a lot of fun. This was our first graphic design module, and we were instructed to create a physical box. It was difficult since we needed to think in three dimensions and be mindful of the elements that were required to make the box practical.
Observation
When building a box, I see that there are several factors to consider. We occasionally notice and purchase boxes but do not further investigate them. I also see that there are a number more box kinds that I wasn't aware of. The entire box might be influenced by the size, materials, and form of the box.
Findings
Making these exercises has piqued my interest. I was able to see a fresh infpormation about osulloc's box after studying it thoroughly. I was able to extensively examine how Osulloc uses their boc for branding. Furthermore, I believe that the box building exercise was a wonderful experience for us to learn how dieline works and to be able to think imaginatively while constructing our own boxes.
