Products ( Week 10 )

Chosen Items

First, we discussed with each other what products we wanted to do. After research and going back and forth we decided the following 8 items in which we divided 4 each. The one I did are highlighted:

  • Totebag
  •  T-shirt
  •  Mask
  •  Postcard
  •  Sticker
  •  Poster
  •  Business Card
  •  Complimentary card

Reference

Before starting out, we research on our Pinterest for some reference that fits our brand identity. We focused on the brand keyword that was given to us in last project which includes modern, minimalist, premium and unique.

Sketches

Then, after references,  I did a digital sketch for the items I needed to make. I didn't sketch on postcard because it was a last-minute addition.

Color Palette

This is the final color palette chosen. We included the color #D77F9E as our third contrasting color which was added last minute according to feedback given.

Drafts

Here was the first draft of my items before feedback and minor changes. This was my first attempt in which I was exploring my mockups and design on how it would look like:

Final Outcome ( Week 14 )

Here is the final outcome for all Chicgo's final merchandise:

We chose a Calico fabric tote bag for tote bag because Calico is biodegradable, which was excellent for our brand because our brand focuses on environmental consciousness, especially since our products are plant based. Furthermore, Calico fabric is water resistant, and our product is ice cream, thus the water emitted by the product will not pass through.

We also chosen cotton fabric for the mask as it would be smooth and easier to wear for the consumer.

Our T-shirt design is elegant yet bold because of the contrasting color. Hence, the design is perfect for unisex.

Feedback

Week 9

Specific Feedback:

Ms Zettie suggests adding a postcard and complimentary card to our items, as it would correlate with our brand.

Week 10

Specific Feedback:

Ms Zettie looks through our merch draft and told us the overall color is too consistent. Therefore, Ms Zettie suggested adding one more brand color that still correlates with our brand color palette.

Week 11

Specific Feedback:

Ms Zettie complimented us for including a solid contrast color, which makes our brand more dynamic and appealing.

Reflection

Experience

This project was a continuous of the last project, which was quite fun. I could incorporate the design we did before and expand them into other merchandising items in which we learn how to create brand identity and the application of our branding consistently throughout the brand, which is important as it would increase a brand consistency.

Observation

When working on this project, project, I observe how color and graphic elements are important to create a significant to a brand. By using brand consistency, consumer would remember that brand through them and would consistently remind of the brand when seeing that logo or color. I realised how a flexible logo is needed to be placed everywhere, not only on the product it-selves. Logo would need to be placed on social media or posters, etc.

Findings

I find myself intrigue in learning this project and it was really fun working with a teammate. I am quite pleased with merchandise outcome as it shows the brand identity, image and consistency. Furthermore, the design is quite clean while still evoking a playful mood, which I find and is relatable to their target audience.
