Reflection
Experience
The most difficult module for me this semester was publication design and BCI. With a lot of work to complete and a limited amount of time, it was rather frantic. I believe that my lack of knowledge and experience during the first month had a significant influence because I was still attempting to adapt with the entire situation. This session focuses heavily on layout, grids, and margins, which was my major flaw, as I discussed in my other typography modules.
Despite this, I could learn further knowledge about formatting from this module, which really improved my understanding of the subject. Initially, I was having difficulty understanding things. Though, I was able to produce more of what I had anticipated. This would not have been possible without Mr Vinod's assistance, who patiently guided me through exercises and projects to strengthen my comprehension and improve my core formatting work.
Observation
This module, as far as I can tell, was the primary module of the semester. Learning this module aided me in my other topics, which required us to write a book. This lesson provided me with a better understanding of the fundamental processes in writing a book. I could apply my critical thinking abilities to different disciplines, from design to components. This will also come in handy later in my graphic design career, when I need to produce a layout or other publications. I see that there are a lot of topics that must be examined in this module. Every decision we made had the potential to affect the eventual conclusion of the book, which was difficult when you made a mistake in the early stages. Therefore, I would suggest to take things slowly but surely in the first step.
Findings
When compiling this all together, I scrolled through my work from start to finish, and I could see all the problems I wanted to change. I feel my current self able to critique my previous work because of the additional information I obtained in this semester that allowed me to develop into something more. I am grateful for the opportunity to write my book from the ground up. From writing to deciding size and visualisation. It was fascinating to have my book printed physically and flip through pages, since I could picture the adjustments I'd made to make my book much more intriguing. This has been a pleasant experience, and I've learnt a lot thanks to Mr Vinod's hard work in this subject. I wanted to meet my lecturers and students in person the following time, and to work on more fascinating projects away from the screen.
